Pico Laser Face Treatment
WHAT IS PICO LASER FACE TREATMENT?
Pico laser face treatment delivers fast bursts of light—in trillionths of a second—to even out tone and texture, without cutting the face. Those picosecond pulses go fast enough to zero in on excessive pigment while causing minimal discomfort in nearby tissue. On the face, it’s mostly applied to dark spots from the sun, or freckles, or so-called acne scarring. Many clients also feel their face is fresher looking because skin tone and smoothness have improved after a few treatments. It is not a bleach treatment; the laser breaks up the undesirable pigment so that your body’s clearance can clear that pigment out of your system naturally over time. Whether it’s a good candidate depends on factors such as skin type, pigmentation patterns and sun exposure; hence, a medical consultation– and sometimes a small test site—is important.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Picosecond lasers often operate at 1064 nm and 532 nm, which work well on melanin cells. Each pulse in pico laser face treatment causes a photoacoustic phenomenon: pigment formations burst into tiny particles with minimal surrounding heat. You may see some immediate darkening of your skin’s surface and a peppering effect that goes away during the next one to two weeks as the debris is cleared. These deep dermal high-frequency pulses trigger a collagen remodeling process that helps to improve pore size and sometimes, mild acne scars. These sessions are spaced between three and four weeks apart to give time for the skin to subside and results to be evaluated. Mandatory daily sunscreen is necessary, and active skin agents are gradually reintroduced per recommendations.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- Precision targeting – Picosecond bursts lock onto melanin-dense spots, lightening them while adjacent skin is largely spared.
- Controlled heat – The ultra-brief pulse duration limits thermal diffusion, helping minimize post-treatment redness and irritation.
- Stepwise improvement – Early brightening often appears within 1–2 weeks, with clarity building across planned sessions.
- Custom parameters – Wavelength, energy, and spot size are set to your complexion and specific concerns.
- Simple upkeep – With sun protection and sensible skincare, most people only need periodic maintenance.

frequent asked questions (faqs)
Pico lasers can be used across many skin phototypes, with device choice and settings adjusted accordingly. A consultation—and, if appropriate, a small test patch—confirms safety.
Most protocols start with 3–4 sessions at 3–4-week intervals. More visits may be needed for resistant pigmentation or additional texture go
Expect brief, snap-like sensations with warmth. Mild redness and temporary darkening/“peppering” can last a few days. Makeup and daily activities are generally fine soon after.
Yes. Pigment is disrupted via a photoacoustic effect, and picosecond pulses can stimulate collagen, softening pore visibility and long-standing post-acne marks.
Sometimes, with conservative protocols and strict sun protection. Your clinician will advise whether pico parameters or an alternative plan is more suitable.
